The Second Find Co. · Orlando, Florida
I'm Nicole Sambrato, founder of The Second Find Co., based in Orlando, Florida. I spend my time in flea markets, estate sales, and junk shops looking for pieces that everyone else has walked past — the ones with a story left in them but no one left to tell it. My work is simple: I find them, restore them by hand, and get them back into homes where they'll be used and loved again.
I don't specialize in one category. Furniture, hardware, small mechanical objects, decorative pieces — if it's well made and worth saving, I'll take it on. Every piece gets the same approach: understand how it was originally built, clean and repair it with materials appropriate to its age, and stop short of over-restoring it into something it never was.
One of my favorite recent projects was a set of four WWII-era pigeon message carriers, found tucked away in an antique store — the small canister-and-harness units used to send messages by carrier pigeon in the field. They'd been sitting untouched for decades: corroded clasps, stiffened leather straps, and canisters dulled by tarnish and grime.
The restoration on each one included:
The goal wasn't to make them look new — it was to make sure they'd survive another eighty years while still looking every bit their age.
